The clock starts after you buy
Once a dealer wins a vehicle at auction, storage charges and missed collection slots become the expensive part of the purchase. The movement is usually: auction centre (or vendor compound) to a dealership, prep centre, or sometimes straight to a retail customer.
Auction sites have their own release rules. The person collecting needs the right paperwork, identity and a booking slot. A transporter arriving without that is turned away, and the dealer still pays standing time.
Details that prevent a wasted collection
Do not treat the auction as “somewhere in Donington”. Use the actual collection point the auction gives you, including entrance, compound or holding area.
- Auction or compound name and postcode
- Lot or stock number plus VRM
- Release or payment status — has the vehicle actually been released?
- Collection window or booked slot
- Destination site or customer address
- Any known non-runner, key or document issues
Proof still matters at an auction gate
Condition on the auction block is not always the condition at the collection bay. Proof of collection photographs at pickup give you a baseline before the road journey. If you skip that, later damage arguments have no starting point.
VMove does not operate the auction. It holds the dealer’s movement: collection location, delivery location, quotes, status and POC/POD. That is enough to treat auction pickup as an ordinary, well-specified collection.

You can post a collection from any location you have access to. Fulfilment depends on a transporter covering that movement, not on an official auction partnership listed here.
What if the car is going straight to a customer?
That is still a collection from the auction, but use customer delivery as the movement type so proof of delivery matches a retail handover.
